Carib Beer XI vs Old Boys, Regents Park,

In Regents park, in the drizzling rain
There was no Gooch and no regular Cap-tain
But twelve Caribs arrived with runs to gain
The opposition were ripe to suffer some pain

Two spectators were ready to view
One with a camera and one just a pew
Who won the toss, I haven’t a clue
The Caribs were drinking some super strength brew

The commentator was ready to shout, he’s got him, he’s bowled him, he’s clearly out.

Jude Law and Holmes took the field
Holmes with only with one run to yield
The seasons top run scorer the prize to wield
The team were focused, all eyes were peeled

Facing ball one during his batting
Holmes took strike a bit like Gatting
Opposition no. 1 bowled one with lots of air in
This was a ball that needed a twatting

Carib continued, but the running was bad
Which made Mr Willis particularly sad
Then Bowen arrived and went totally mad
Smashing the ball and that made him glad

Cordey ran lots, including a bye
It was impressive as he’s had many a pie
But his scoring was slow and we wondered why
His strike rate average was to about to die

Before the commentator was able to shout, he’s got him, he’s bowled him, he’s clearly out.

We scored a hundred and a few more
Look at the scorecard for a proper good bore
So out to the pitch to restrict the score
Of an opposition hoping runs would pour

Carib Peter ran in to have a bowl
Taking wickets was clearly the old man’s goal
No one could hit it, he was on a roll
Then one landed in a fat hole

Adam scared them with his lightning pace
While Willis’ over was an utter disgrace
Holmes bowled one that hit his lace
And Jarrod bounced one into his face

But Moss was chasing a seasons prize
Three wickets were needed to top all the guys
The story he made sure the Skipper was wise
As he bowled some spin in disguise

One wicket short Moss fell in the end
That will drive him around the bend
But maybe it could become a trend
If his run up, perhaps he can try to mend

The final over was given to Jude
And after a wide, his pants he poo-ed
But then to really change his mood
He ran in and bowled one like a proper dude

The Carib clinched it and the season was done
Three games won, but for Martin ‘twas none
The bags were packed and off we run
To the pub we headed in the disappearing sun

Umpire Lee was first to the bar
Raised his finger and shouted beer ta
And after a season where we had travelled so far
We watched the video on the came-ra
