The second outing of season two of the Carib Beer XI was intended to be a game against our arch nemesis, the Bank of England, the team that inflicted out only defeat of last season. However, this time, we were unable to enlist enough of them for a game (obviously fearing to lose the 100% success rate against us that they currently enjoy) so we were again reduced to a 3 overs batting and bowling knock about, with five runs deducted for the loss of a wicket. We were, however, joined by Chris Williams, the Bank of England Team captain, who is leading a confirmed eleven against us in July. Probably not a good omen that Mr Williams outscored us all, AND bowled the first maiden of the season. This game also saw the inauguration of the new 'Carib Beer XI Monty Panesar fielding award@'. Already the competition seems to be hotting up with both Martin Haigh and Phil Cordey vieing for the top award. We should also mention that we discovered that we have a celebrity of sorts amongst the ranks of ringers, namely young Hannah, who delighted in regaling us of some rather sorded stories involving the now married Mr James Anderson - Someone please tell her that he's already taken
